Windsor Castle Royal Tattoo

The Royal Tattoo held at Windsor Castle is a celebration of the Armed Forces through music and action. This annual event, 2012 will be its 5th year, offers a packed programme of international and British performances, with massed bands, pipes and drums, modern military re-enactments and a fantastic finale.

The Royal Tattoo tells a story of life in each of the services - The Army, The Royal air Force and the Royal Navy, intersperced with ceremonial acts, including the famous Household Cavalry Musical ride and the Musical Drive of the Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery. This Royal Tattoo is a not for proft event, with all money raised going to the Royal British Legion.

There is much to do in the showgrounds before the Tattoo itself. There are over 200 shops to visit, the Military Action Zone where you can test your skills on the paintball range, the assault course, and the laser clay pigeon shooting. There are simulators, a craft tent, the Food Hall, Navy Cookery Theatre, The Land Rover Driving Experience Course and finally a funfair.

The Windsor Castle Royal Tattoo takes place in the private grounds of Windsor Castle. This is the only time in the year that the grounds are open to the general public. In the past three years a member of the Royal Family has attended the Tattoo at each performance.

The event is usually held over the second weekend in May on Thursday, Friday, saturday and Sunday nights
