Sunny Salou

Salou is a municipality of the comarca of Tarragonès, in the province of Tarragona, in Catalonia, Spain. The city is approximately 10 km from Tarragona and Reus on the Costa Daurada and 112 km from Barcelona. Aside from its string of beaches interrupted by rocky coves, and its landscaped promenade, one of its main attractions is the PortAventura resort.

Based in the popular Costa Dorada resort of Salou, with its wide sandy beach and extensive palm-lined seafront promenade, Salou is one of Spain's top seaside destinations.

Day 1

Depart the UK.

Travel to Dover for the ferry crossing to Calais continuing south for an overnight stop near Dijon.

Day 2

Arrive in resort.

Continue south, crossing the border into Spain, arriving at your chosen hotel for a 6 night stay.

Day 3

At leisure.

Time to relax and familiarise yourself with your hotel and resort facilities.

Day 4

Barcelona sightseeing.

The vibrant capital of Catalonia and home to the famous Sagrada Familia Cathedral. Explore the Gothic quarter with the cathedral of Santa Eulalia and the majestic courtyard of the Episcopal Palace or take a stroll along 'Las Ramblas'.

Day 5

Cambrils and Reus.

The beautiful seaside town of Cambrils offers a selection of boat trips along the coast and is renowned for its fresh seafood. Visit the Torre del Port watch tower and museum before driving to nearby Reus, the birthplace of Antonio Gaudi. Reus is also an important producer of wine and spirits.

Day 6

Montserrat and Freixenet.

The Benedictine monastery of Montserrat is perched in a stunning mountain range with amazing rock formations where the Escalonia choir sings every day in the cathedral. Return via the Freixenet Cava House for a tour and tasting session.

Day 7

At leisure.

Day 8

At leisure.

A final day for that last minute shopping, sightseeing or relaxing.

Day 9

Depart Spain.

Retrace your steps into France and the Dijon area for a final overnight stop.

Day 10

Return to the UK.

Continue north to Calais for the ferry crossing to Dover, and home.
